On projects where a driveway, septic, plumbing, or well permit is required in addition to a building permit, no building permit will be issued until the other permits have been issued.
Fees for driveway, building, zoning, plumbing, or well permits can be paid by the applicant on the same check. However, separate checks are required for septic fees.
No permits will be issued until all fees have been paid in full. All checks should be made payable to “ALSACE TOWNSHIP”.
SEWAGE – SEPTIC PERMITS
Technicon Enterprises serves as the Alsace Township Sewage Enforcement Officer. They conduct the testing and issue the sewage permits for septic tanks, cesspools, holding tanks, or sand mounds. You should also contact Technicon Enterprises regarding any suspected sewage / septic malfunctions. A sewage permit must be issued before any other permits can be obtained for any new construction. On- lot Sewage Disposal Systems are required to be pumped every three years, the “Record of Pumping Form” can be downloaded and printed from here.
Any subdivision, re-subdivision or other replotting of property for any purpose requires the approval of both, the Township and the Berks County Planning Commission. The Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance is available at the township Municipal Building.
The Township has an ordinance that deals specifically with zoning and land use issues. The ordinance defines zoning districts and regulates what can and cannot be done in a particular district.
